The "New Nature in Brabant" project focuses on protecting and expanding nature reserves in the province of North Brabant. Nature in Brabant is under significant pressure from urbanization, agriculture, and infrastructure. By launching the Natuurfonds Brabant, Brabants Landschap aims to raise funds from individuals and businesses to purchase additional land for nature conservation. These purchases will connect existing nature reserves, creating larger and more robust habitats for plants and animals.
The land acquisitions are strategically targeted at areas where nature needs the most support. For €7.50, you can protect one square meter of land, helping to create new habitats for endangered species. By connecting fragmented areas, species like badgers, butterflies, and amphibians can move freely, which is crucial for their survival.
Your contribution goes entirely towards purchasing new land, directly helping to make Brabant greener, healthier, and richer in biodiversity.
Nature in Brabant is under significant pressure due to fragmentation, leading to isolated habitats for many species of plants and animals. Without connections between nature reserves, species like the badger, tree frog, and various butterflies cannot migrate, weakening their populations and leading to possible extinction.
This project aims to restore robust and resilient ecosystems that can withstand disruptions such as climate change. Healthy ecosystems provide clean water, fresh air, and crop pollination, all of which are essential for both human and natural well-being.
By supporting this project, you are helping to protect and restore nature in Brabant, contributing to a future where biodiversity thrives and ecosystems remain strong.
The Natuurfonds Brabant will be launched on September 24, 2024. From that moment, both individuals and businesses can contribute by purchasing land, which will then be transformed into nature reserves. The fund focuses on acquiring strategic plots of land throughout Brabant, aiming to connect existing nature reserves and create new habitats.
Brabants Landschap has already received commitments from several individuals and businesses, allowing us to make the first purchases in 2024. The managers of the various nature reserves will be closely involved in the acquisitions and the development of the new nature areas. Once the land purchases are complete, updates will be regularly given. Please follow the websites below to observe the progress of the project and get in touch with Brabants Landschap.
Brabants Landschap, founded in 1932, has been dedicated to protecting nature, landscapes, and heritage in Brabant for nearly 100 years. The organization manages 19,000 hectares of nature reserves and works to create new habitats for plants and animals. With the help of thousands of volunteers, businesses, and individuals, Brabants Landschap strengthens biodiversity in Brabant. Their mission is to pass on nature areas to future generations, ensuring that Brabant remains a healthy and green province for living and recreation.
These projects contribute to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals.
