Toughened glass
Through subjecting glass to heat treatment, tempered glass is obtained with great resistance to thermal shock. Tempered glass is 5 times stronger than ordinary glass of equal thickness. During production, the glass is heated to more than 600°C and then cooled at a carefully controlled rate, which builds up a great tension in the glass. When broken, the glass disintegrates into thousands of tiny fragments with no sharp edges. Perfect for frequent cleaning in the dishwasher.
